Fight for your right to go to a CD release Party

I'm always happy when a local band reaches any kind of a milestone. So, I'm pleased to announce that local hardcore punksters Unhallowed are releasing their CD to the world.

When two of the band's members stopped by the BW office to drop off a copy of their CD, I must admit I made a snap judgment. Based on their bangs, I assumed Unhallowed was just another emocore band (not that there's anything wrong with that). I was wrong. Unhallowed's music circles around a core of -core (there's plenty of screaming), but there's also a clear layer of punk underlying their underground sound. Changing time signatures, interesting chord progressions, and some odd but engaging vocal tricks make every track on this CD worth a listen and make attending the CD release party at the Venue a must. Sharing the stage with their bombastic brothers are Temptation of St. Anthony, My Sexy Assassin, Alongside Heroes, Fighting Bears By Hand and Hugh Downs Inc., all bands who are worth seeing in their own rights.

Friday, 7 p.m., $10, The Venue, 521 Broad St., www.boisevenue.com.

meow!

Punk rockers, Time Again, have signed with Hellcat Records and will release a full-length album titled The Stories Are True. The album contains 13 songs of rabble-rousing raucousness, including help from Rancid's Tim Armstrong on the title track.
