Thousands have signed a petition calling for TV host Piers Morgan to be deported from the United States after he made some controversial comments on gun control.

The CNN host provoked gun owners in America after the Newtown shootings when he said to Gun Owners of America's executive director, Larry Pratt, "You're an incredibly stupid man, aren't you?"

"You have absolutely no coherent argument. You don't actually give a damn about the gun murder rate in the America."

Soon thereafter, someone posted a petition on the White House website claiming that Morgan "is engaged in a hostile attack against the US constitution by targeting the Second Amendment."

According to the Independent, the petition has over 31,000 signatures on it.

Morgan's response to the petition? To joke about it.

n a series of Twitter messages, he alternately urged his followers to sign the petition and in response to one article about the petition said "bring it on" as he appeared to track the petition's progress.

"If I do get deported from America for wanting fewer gun murders, are there any other countries that will have me?" he wrote.
