Midnight in Paris--This is Woody Allen’s best effort in more than a decade, but that’s not saying a whole heckuva lot when you look at his last 10 movies in as many years. Here, Owen Wilson plays Allen’s latest alter ego, Gil. Wilson even has the Allen stammer down perfectly. Wilson is surrounded by Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard and even France’s first lady, Carla Bruni. The real star of the film is the Paris. The City of Lights always looks great on film, but Allen has a little fun by jettisoning Gil back to pre-war Paris, with fun odes to the golden age of Dali, Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
