Roadshow of the Week

Intervision 5, October 7 and 8, The Legendary Shack*Shakers, October 7

| October 05, 2005

Once again this week, there's a plethora of great music coming to town. Two shows in particular caught my attention, and since I couldn't decide on just one, I'm giving you both.

On October 7 and 8, Tom Grainey's steps out in a big way with Intervision 5. This band is a fivesome out of Portland and fuses soul, funk and sweet rock with some of the most heartfelt, lovely harmonized vocals to offer up a sound that is impossible to resist. They have been compared to Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan and Jamiroquai, and with good reason. With an avant-garde approach to classic styles and three-part harmonies that are simply dreamy, I5 is the sort of band that you can listen to for hours and still want more. Check out their Web site at www.intervision5.com and then go to the show and hear for yourself.

There is another excellent show happening on October 7. Reef is bringing back show-stoppers The Legendary Shack*Shakers with special guests The Gore Gore Girls. Unbelievable. Reef will have no reason to light their tiki torches, because this show will provide its own fire. Sounds-a-billy abound with the Shack*Shakers and you'll feel like you're back in the days of duck-tail hairstyles and saddle shoes by the time this band is finished with you. Their music is an exhilarating and exhausting blend of Punk, Goth, growly vocals, harmonica and lambasted drum beats. And, according to their Web site (www.cockadoodledont.com), "their new album, Believe, runs the musical gamut ... from the creaky-croaky murder balladry of 'County of Graves' to the cheap-suit, town-drunk swagger of 'Piss and Vinegar.' The Gore Gore Girls are another band not to be ignored and bring Rock City music to the people. These hard rockers play sweet songs caustically and will keep you on your toes wondering what they'll do next and will have you dancing said toes off.

This weekend, pleasure your inner beast at Reef or soothe its soul at Grainey's. Or, do both. Both shows are absolutely worth it.
