Recap: Boise Weekly Cover Auction

If you missed this awesome event, you'll have to wait until next year. Missed what, you ask? This past Saturday was the third annual Boise Weekly Cover Auction at Stewart Gallery. Fifty-three works of original art were sold via live and silent auction. Gross sales from the event totaled almost $10,000, slightly less than last year's total by a few hundred dollars. Last year Boise Weekly donated $7,440 to the YMCA children's art programs, and we expect to donate about the same this year after recouping costs for the event. Grant Olsen's work, Special and Normal, garnered the top sale of the evening--going for an impressive $600. Boise Weekly would like to thank Stewart Gallery for use of the space and for framing the artwork, Villano's for the catering (boy, did we love those meatballs), the Boise Co-op and Mexicali Beer for donation of beverages and, last but not least, all the artists who donated their work for our third annual event. Local artists wanting more information about how to participate in our cover auction should contact bingo@boiseweekly.com to find out about guidelines for submitting work for the cover auction. :
