Possible Wolf Kill in North Central Idaho

July 20, 2005

The pack of wolves responsible for the death of six hunting dogs last year has been named as the likely suspect in the death of Rancher Suzanne Beale's cow, despite the carcass having no tooth puncture marks.

The pack, active between Elk River and Dworshak Reservoir, may be culled by Federal authorities if it can be determined that it is responsible for other livestock deaths. Ranchers may legally shoot wolves they witness stalking or attacking livestock.
