Lights, Camera, Potatoes

| June 06, 2007
Just when you thought Idaho might be leaving the shadow of its famous potato slogan, along came YouTube.

The Idaho Potato Commission is using the online video-sharing Web site to solicit videos of how Americans are using their spuds. From the common place recipes and handy household tips to using the tubers in movies or art—the commission wants to see it.

The top three video makers will each win $1,000 cash, and five runners-up will get gift baskets (it's a safe bet to guess these will involve potatoes in some way), and everyone who enters will get their very own Spuddy Buddy beanie.

The first official entrant: Idaho resident and former Gilligan's Island babe, Dawn Wells. The actress jumped at the chance to get back in film by demonstrating how she peels potatoes.

The contest runs through June 29. To enter, or to check out other videos (including Wells') visit www.iTuber.org.
