Jaquet Backs Obama

Idaho might be a dyed-in-the-wool red state but that hasn't stopped some national Democratic Party presidential players from picking up some support.

House Minority Leader Wendy Jaquet, D-Ketchum, has officially backed Sen. Barack Obama according to the Web site RedState Rebels.net.

Jaquet's endorsement is the most-prominent in the state to date and puts her in the ranks of fellow state lawmakers Sen. Edgar Malepeai, D-Pocatello, Assistant House Minority Leader George Sayler, D-Coeur d'Alene, Rep. Nicole LeFavour, D-Boise, Rep. Les Bock, D-Boise and Rep. James Ruchti, D-Pocatello.

It's good news for the Obama campaign, which opened a regional campaign office in Boise earlier this fall. Whether the expenditure and endorsements pay off will have to be seen.
