Hellfire and Damnation

Start small, and work your way up. It's worked for corporate leaders, movie stars and staff at BW. But now Boise Police are looking for whoever it might be that applied that credo to arson at a church near Orchard and I-84.

BPD officers have been getting reports of small-time arsonists and vandals in the area, but up to now, their handiwork has been limited to the occasional graffiti job or destruction of a cooler at the Hillcrest Golf Club.

But apparently they decided to go big time at the Jehovah's Witness Church at Roosevelt and St. Andrews. (Of course, there were witnesses. Do we have to spell it out for you?) Neighbors and people driving down the Interstate called 911 around 2 a.m. on Sunday when they saw flames coming from the church, and decided this was not a sign from The Almighty. Despite the efforts of Boise fire crews, most of the church was destroyed. One witness told officers they saw two people who appeared to be teenagers dressed in dark clothing, running from the building.

If you've got any information on the up-and-coming no-good-niks, call Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS. There's a reward of up to $1,000 for information on the crime.
