Sure, you’ve taken your kid to work, but how about doing something he or she will actually enjoy doing with you.

The Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association is hosting Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Military Reserve in Boise. The event is designed as a way to get kids interested in biking, do a little bonding and have some fun while you’re at it.

SWIMBA will have a tent set up in the parking lot off Mountain Cove Road, where participants will convene before the ride. All skill levels are welcome to join the ride, and bikers will be divided into groups depending on their experience and age.

Event organizers ask that all kids be accompanied by a “responsible” adult, and waivers must be signed before anyone takes to the trail. Helmets are required and Slime tubes are just suggested.

Riders will meet at 10 a.m., with rides beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a barbecue with swag and raffle giveaways.

Even if you don’t have a kid you can ride; adult volunteers are still needed to help with the event. Riders can RSVP via e-mail, or ask more questions, at rides@swimba.org.
