A badly bruised Boise man is behind bars, charged with a felony charge of aggravated battery after police said he broke in a Boise Bench home and stabbed a man.

The mugshot posted to the Ada County Jail website isn't pretty, and police said Bret Hollingsworth, 56, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was medically cleared before being taken to the lockup.

Boise police responded just after 9 p.m. Feb. 3 to a report of a stabbing at a private residence near the intersection of South Pillippi and Grover streets. That's where witnesses told officers Hollingsworth had forced his way into the home and attacked a male victim who was known to him. Police said the alleged victim was stabbed multiple times but was able to fight back and detain Hollingsworth until police arrived on the scene.

Hollingsworth is charged with felony aggravated battery, use of a deadly weapon or instrument. He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday at the Ada County Courthouse.
