Boise gets really hot in the summer. A few brisk spring days might to convince some people that, just to be on the safe side, it's a good idea to pack a sweater in your bag wherever you go.
But that's simply not the case. Summer officially began June 22, and the heat and sunshine will only get more intense. That's why the Art and Wine Festival at Terrace Lakes Resort in Garden Valley is such a welcome reprieve. Today is the final day of the two-day festival, and the artisans, artists, vendors, musicians and food tents are ready for perusal from noon-5 p.m.
Participating wineries include Sawtooth Winery and Ste. Chapelle Winery, and the vino is served in hand-made glasses created by local artists. The event is free to attend. And if you're not up for the drive to Garden Valley, a motor coach leaves from the Wal-Mart at Glenwood and State streets at 10 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. Seats on the coach are $15 and can be reserved by calling 208-462-3250.
