Lisa Duplessie has been named executive director of the Capital City Public Market, according to a press release issued by the organization following an executive board meeting Feb. 21.

Duplessie has worked with the market for eight years, previously serving as market manager. Duplessie was tapped to serve as interim executive director following the board's decision to fire market founder Karen Ellis in September 2012.

Board members accused Ellis of poor business practices. Ellis disputed those claims and is now working with a new downtown Saturday market, the Boise Farmers Market.

In the release, the CCPM executive board called the move to hire Duplessie a "significant step" toward building a world-class public market, one which supports local food growers, producers and artisans.

In addition, Melissa Nodzu, who has experience working with Boise's East End Market at Bown Crossing and the Eagle Saturday Market, has been hired to serve as CCPM's market manager.
