It's been nearly six months since the opening of Spacebar Arcade, a subterranean barcade located at 200 N. Capitol Blvd.
While it's already a popular haunt for late-night crowds looking to bend an elbow or catch live music, Spacebar's large selection of classic arcade and pinball games are the big draw for nostalgic Boiseans. Spacebar also offers regular tournaments with prizes each month.
The 7-Eleven tournament, which takes place tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 13, is a classic arcade and pinball tournament wherein contenders pay a $5 entry fee for a chance to win cash.
According to Spacebar's Facebook page:
Players pay a $5 entry and select three machines to play. There are 10 machines overall, with five seats available per machine, for a total of 50 seats in the tournament. Scoring is based on a percentage of the high score on each game.
But for those looking for a more focused competition, there's the upcoming Galaga tournament, hosted by Sockeye Brewing Thursday, Feb. 21. Players will be given five lives, no extra ships and a difficulty ranking of D. They then have 15 minutes to score as high as they can, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place scores.
