With the recent surge in local craft brewery openings, Boise beer enthusiasts have developed a taste for super fresh suds. After sipping a pint straight from a brewery’s taproom, it can be hard to go back to bottled brews that have been sitting around for months in a back cooler.
Lucky for fresh beer fans, Stone Brewing Company selected Idaho as one of 10 national markets in which it will distribute its Stone Enjoy By IPA.
"Shipped out the same day it’s bottled and branded with a 35-day consume-by date, Stone Enjoy By IPA was created to illustrate the importance of consuming fresh beer in order to enjoy its flavors to the fullest," Brandon Hernandez wrote on Stone's blog.
This current batch of Enjoy By IPA was shipped out Friday, Jan. 11, and must be consumed by Friday, Feb. 15. At that time, any remaining bottles will be removed from local shelves. Distribution for the specialty brew is determined through social media interest.
"With the dawning of each batch comes the opportunity for fans to vie for Stone Enjoy By IPA to return or debut in their region by emailing us or using hash-tags (#EnjoyBy #CityOrState) to interact via social media. Each email or hash-tag mention goes down as a 'vote' which we record and use in determining which regions will receive a future release of Stone Enjoy By IPA," Hernandez wrote.
Stone’s Enjoy By IPA is currently available locally in bottles at the Boise Co-op, and on tap and in 22-ounce bottles at Bar Gernika and Bier:Thirty.
“Having just hosted SBC CEO and co-founder Greg Koch in September, Boise continues its development as a craft beer destination,” wrote Boise Co-op Beer Guy Matt Gelsthorpe in an email.
But hop-heads need to hop to it, according to a Tweet by Stone rep Erin Grey Kemplin, the beer is disappearing fast.
First keg almost gone! @bier_thirtywill be the first keg of @stonebrewingco#Enjoyby IPA to tap out in #ID . Get it while you can...
