In 2012, the Brown Bag Lecture Series at the Idaho State Historical Museum explored the Old Idaho Penitentiary and hosted Eve Chandler as she discussed her new book about Brundage Mountain. It even showed us Boise's only rammed-earth home.
Since then, the series has had to relocate due to renovations, but it will continue to provide lectures and education opportunities on Idaho history.
Today from noon-1 p.m., there's a free Brown Bag lecture on the Bear River Massacre at a temporary location—720 Park Blvd. in Boise.
The lecture, presented by Idaho State Archaeologist Dr. Ken Reid, will explore a massacre that left hundreds of Native Americans and 20 soldiers dead.
