The hardwood stylings and old-timey feel at Pengilly's don't much cotton to whatever 20-something hooliganry is going on next door at The Cactus or Silly Birch. Pengilly's is in its mid-30s and proud to have grown up a bit.
In fact, today is the bar's 36th birthday, and to celebrate, it will be having a tasteful, distinguished party that you are cordially invited not to barf at.
What is happening at this shindig? According to Facebook: "PRIZES. MUSIC. MEMORIES."
There will be raffles for all manner of prizes, including bar tabs, booze swag and other mystery prizes, and jamming from a laundry list of local musicians.
The festivities will be hosted by local blues-folk crooner John Hansen from 5-9 p.m., and will feature a special reading by Tyler Nelson of How the Grinch Stole Christmas at 8 p.m. After that, Fram Fram Four will frim fram their way into your hearts starting at 9 p.m.
The whole thing starts at 5 p.m. and is FREE.
