If you're an avid reader, you're familiar with how books seem to multiply and eventually start taking up space far beyond the shelf.

This holiday season, there's hope for freeing up some slots between the bookends. Barnes & Noble Booksellers is accepting donations of used books for its annual Holiday Book Drive. All donations benefit Saint Alphonsus' partnership with the Reach Out and Read Program, a national literacy program for children.

The procedure is painless: Show up at Barnes & Noble, 1315 N. Milwaukee St., between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m., drop off your extra copies of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Wild Animus, and head home warmed by the feeling of having done a good deed.
