Ever wonder what happens to all that original artwork that appears on the cover of Boise Weekly each week?
Well, it's auctioned off once a year to raise money for a public arts grant that supports local artists and arts organizations. The Boise Weekly Cover Auction is BW's biggest event of the year, and it's right around the corner. Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Idaho State Historical Museum to get in on the fun.
Doors open at 5 p.m. that night, with the auction starting promptly at 6 p.m. There's a $5 suggested donation at the door—which goes straight into the grant fund—but that puts you in the hunt to take home your favorite piece of art (or maybe two or three) from the last year's worth of covers.
Having a hard time remembering the array of art that has graced the cover since October 2011? You can preview the show tonight during First Thursday, wait for the preview insert in the Wednesday, Oct. 10, edition of Boise Weekly or you could just check out this slideshow.
