Downtown barcade Spacebar has gotten Boise's nerds buzzing with its promise of old-school video games and drinks stiffer than Jolt Cola.
As previously reported in Boise Weekly, the new bar has been remodeling the basement space of the Alderman Building at Capitol Boulevard and Idaho Street—formerly the home of Voodoo Lounge and The Catacomb Club—into a big ol' nerdatorium that will house roughly 30 coin-operated games and a series of rotating taps.
"There's a Top 100 Games list that's maintained by BMI Gaming, and anything we got, we wanted to be on that list," co-owner Trent McNair told BW's Tara Morgan.
But putting all that awesomeness together took a little longer than the proprieters expected, leaving Boise's joystick fingers getting a little itchy.
But finally, after nearly two weeks—practically an eternity—Spacebar announced its official opening date via its Facebook page: Saturday, Sept. 22. If you're wondering where BW will be that night, it will be hunched over a hot game of Bubble Bobble swearing like a sailor at that stupid purple whale thing that shows up around Level 7.
