If all you know about seeds is that they can be purchased in small envelopes on the cheap and are supposed to be spit out when savoring a giant chunk of watermelon, head to North End Organic Nursery tonight.
Beginning at 6 p.m., Casey O'Leary from Earthly Delights Farm will tell you why you should care about seeds in Seed Saving, Who Cares? The class will explore the important role seeds play in both gardening and attempts to preserve genetic diversity. O'Leary will also go over the history and culture of seed-saving.
The class is the first installment of a three-part course. Seed Saving 101 and Seed Saving 102 will take place at the nursery Tuesday, Sept. 18, and Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Cost for the classes are $10 each, or you can save $5 and enjoy all three for $25. Call 208-389-4769 for more info and to reserve your space.
