Evil Wine Show Starts Second Season with Eskimo Porn

Around 100 people crowded into Red Room July 16 to watch the second season premiere of The Evil Wine Show, a locally produced and marketed sketch comedy and talk show.

The show features rolling still images of hosts Wes Malvini and Dustin Jones with tightly edited banter between the two about music, arts and whatever the theme of the show is, between comedy sketches, music videos and interviews with artists.

For this episode, the theme was sex.

The comedy sketches featured a fashion show that ended with the hosts going to a playground called Pedophiles, and a fantastic satire of a ’50s educational film, in which Malvini and Jones poke and prod two naked people with pool cues as a bone-dry voiceover explains the various functions of the body without a shred of accuracy. Oh, and there was a piece on Eskimo porn.

Featuring nudity, drug use and lots of naughty language, The Evil Wine Show is not targeted at the masses. But its hosts are quite explicit about that.

"If you're offended, we'll be right over there so you can come punch us," Malvini said during the introduction.

"We'd like that," Jones added.

But the show was far funnier than it was offensive. The only real slow part was an interview with actor and auteur Crispin Glover, who will be at The Egyptian Theatre Thursday, July 26 and Friday, July 27

Jones and Malvini screen the show weekly at Red Room. The video is only available for viewing online for 24 hours after the screening in order to emulate a TV broadcast, which forces interested people to take an active part in viewing the show. And if turnout July 16 is any barometer, it appears to be working.

There will be seven more episodes in the show's second season, and the hosts said they will feature more original sketches and musical performances than the first season along with a docu-serial about Idaho wine, made from footage the two were working on for a full-length documentary on the subject.

The Evil Wine Show screens every Monday evening at Red Room. More information and streamable video can be found at evilwine.com.
