The glory days of rock 'n' roll were a simpler time, rife with ruckus. Distorted guitar riffs and loud, hard drums ruled the stage. Boom Chick is helping to bring back that vibe, with its brand of “honky tonk surf rock.”
Brooklyn-based Boom Chick consists of Frank Hoier on guitar and vocals and Moselle Spiller on drums. The band revives that old-school rock 'n' roll spirit as Spiller bangs through Hoier’s rapid-fire riffs and Delta bluesy vocals.
Armed with a handful of hits from its 2010 EP, Show Pony, the band should also offer some surprises from its upcoming October full-length release when it performs tonight, Friday, July 6, at Neurolux. The show starts at 8 p.m. and costs $5 at the door.
