Homemade can be really awesome (tasty holiday dinners), or quite terrible (the dog-face sweater your grandmother knits for you every birthday). But today, the likelihood of awesome is high at the fifth-annual Organic Homebrew Challenge, which happens from 5-10 p.m. at Visual Arts Collective in Garden City.
For $5, you will score a judging card and pen so you can express your feelings about the 17 robust porter homebrew entries. Public judging begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m., or whenever supplies run out.
Crooked Fence Brewing will host the closed certified judging, and the winner will have his or her creation commercially brewed by Payette Brewing Co.
In addition to sumptuous suds, the event will feature live music, local and regional craft beers, food trucks, live and silent auctions and a raffle. Proceeds benefit the Boise Bicycle Project. Since this is a beer-centric event, and VAC is a 21-and-older venue, attendees should arrive with their IDs in hand and leave the kiddos at home.
