Radiolab Goes Looking for The Devil

If you aren't tuned in to Radiolab, you're seriously missing out. The fascinating topics and even more fascinating production style consistently make it one of the best things on the radio.

The show is primarily science-based, but for last week's podcast, it took up one of the greatest music myths of all time, that of influential blues pioneer Robert Johnson.

According to legend, Johnson got his guitar skills by selling his soul to the devil at the crossroads, an act that also led to his early death at the age of 27. Decades after his death, Johnson would serve as a major influence for Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and more.

Intrigued by the myth, the team at Radiolab went looking for the crossroads, and the truth behind the legend. What they found was pretty surprising.
