Whole Foods at Wholesale

By now, most people are aware that Whole Foods Market is setting up shop in Boise, almost directly across the street from Winco.

But here's an even more interesting location for Whole Foods: a section of Detroit known as Midtown. This is the same Detroit that has seen its population dwindle to half of what it was six decades ago. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, management at Whole Foods is hoping to provide a source of organic and natural foods for the community.

Interestingly, the article also reports that government officials have committed to doling out tax credits and grants to the grocery store's developer, which will effectively lower the rent for Whole Foods. This will allow the store to price items competitively so that budget shoppers will consider it an option.

Think they'll do that for the Treasure Valley?
