There's a new bike blog in town, and it has a lofty goal: To chronicle the Boise cycling scene one rider at a time.
"I think there’s a bit of a shift in how many people are riding bikes in Boise," said co-creator Andrew Ford. "I’m at Java and there’s six bikes outside in the middle of winter. I’m interested in the stories of these people."
The project, simply named A New Bike, combines Ford's journalistic skills with Glenn Landberg's photography; each post features a few shots of the bicycle and one of its owner. Currently the blog includes a chef with his black chopper snapped on Eighth St., an 83-year-old Cuban man standing by his utilitarian ride and a Boise State student with her vintage blue cruiser.
Each post also includes a brief audio interview with the rider, recorded by Ford, who said that he hopes to have at least one new profile up per week.
