All entries for the annual Bad Cartoon contest must be in our hot little hands in the BW office by no later than noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16. For the first time, all entries must be accompanied by a $10-per-entry fee, which will be used to provide the winners with some cash prizes.
All cartoons must also include the artist's name, phone number and whatever explanation the judges might need to understand the creation in its full glory. Top choices will be published in the Wednesday, Nov. 30, edition of Boise Weekly.
Entries for the Fiction 101 contest must be turned in no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, and just like in past years, a $10-per-story fee must accompany each entry. Those entry fees are used for fabulous cash prized for the winners, so be ready to ante up.
Each and every story must also include the author's name, phone number and contact information on the back of the entry. Stories must be exactly 101 words (not including the title) as counted by Microsoft Word, and be works of fiction—no poetry, please.
Winners will be published in the Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, edition of Boise Weekly, but don't forget to mark your calendars for First Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, when the finalists will read their stories and field questions as part of Conversations with Fiction 101 Winners at Rediscovered Bookshop.
Entries for both contests can be dropped off at BWHQ at 523 Broad St., in Boise. If you have questions, please contact Office Manager Shea Sutton at 208-344-2055.
