Reports: Big East to Court Boise State

CBS Sports, the New York Post and The Sporting News are all reporting that Boise State could get an invitation to join the Big East sports conference, along with Air Force, Central Florida and Navy, as early as next week.

Boise State's first season with the Mountain West conference is under way this year, following more than a decade with the Western Athletic Conference.

Last month, the Big East lost Pittsburgh and Syracuse, both of which left to join the Atlantic Coast Conference. Currently the Big East has six football members: Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers, University of South Florida and West Virginia. The Big East said earlier this week that it would like to expand to 12 football schools and split into two divisions, which allows the league to play a championship game, in order to retain its automatic bid for the Bowl Championship Series.
