Once a year in our fair city, the Renaissance is reborn, the Civil War is reenacted and visitors get a firsthand look at life as it was before everyone had debit cards and iPods.
Today happens to be that day. The Idaho State Historical Museum comes to life—literally. Actors and experts from around the state will converge on the museum and into Julia Davis Park to share their expertise and enthusiasm. Make your way through an encampment of medieval knights or try your hand at calf roping and the multitude of other activities designed to make learning about history interactive and entertaining.
Food vendors will have food and drink available, so you don’t even have to leave the grounds when the kids start feeling snacky. Marimba Boise, Hillfolk Noir and the Boise Banjo Band will entertain the crowd while Civil War soldiers do their reenactment thing.
The event is FREE and goes from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
