Honeyed vocals and down-home Southern instrumentals will fill the Bouquet on Tuesday, June 21, when Washington, D.C.-based Vandaveer comes to Boise.
Mark Charles Heidinger, the head and heart of Vandaveer, was raised in Lexington, Ky., and is a Southern boy at heart, His father’s work as a minister meant Heidinger spent a good chunk of his childhood listening to gospel choirs, and that has definitely informed his sound.
Vandaveer sounds like Eddie Vedder’s Into the Wild, had Vedder skipped the rockstar phase and gone to church instead.
The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and is free. Listen to Vandaveer’s “Kicked to the Curb” below. It's alt-country with the perfect hit of folk.
