Slideshow and Video: Helladrome Race

On June 10, several dozen Boise cyclists gathered in the parking lot of the Boise Armory for Helladrome, a bike race with a twist or two. But it was more than just a race around the track. There were costumes, push-up requirements if cyclists went out of bounds on the course, and at least one heat of the race was run on child-sized bikes with the pedals removed. All the while, spectators drank beer and cheered from the sidelines.

The event also served as the opening to Pedal 4 the People, the two-week bike festival staged by Boise Bicycle Project as part of its capital campaign to buy the building it currently leases.
