By now we can probably all agree that the “losers” on TV's top talent shows tend to do OK in their own right. Sure, the winners get the cold hard cash and prizes, but the exposure of competing on national television isn’t a bad consolation prize for the runners-up. Case in point: Jennifer Hudson, who took seventh place in the season Fantasia Barrino won American Idol, now has a slew of awards sitting on her mantel—including an Oscar and a Golden Globe.
He may not have a gold statue above his fireplace, but Texan reggae singer/songwriter Cas Haley is doing fine with his second-place status. The stay-at-home dad was the runner-up on season two of America’s Got Talent in 2007. Since then he has recorded a couple of hit albums and has made a name for himself in the reggae scene. And now you can catch the laid-back Haley and fellow musician Trevor Hall at Reef tonight at 9 p.m. The show is for 21 and older only, and tickets are $7.
