Holy crap. The food revolution has reached roadkill.
On Sunday night, Steven Rinella, from The Wild Within on the Travel Channel, cooked raccoon roadkill for a dinner party in San Francisco.
I am a fan of roadkill and have even written about it in the past. But I have to be the one to kill the animal to consider eating it. I've never driven past a dead 'coon on the road and thought to myself, “Dinner?”
But the idea is worth thinking about: If the poor beastie is already dead, why not eat it?
Check out the video below for more on Rinella's roadkill raccoon, which made me wonder: Did roadkill go from a redneck joke to a mainstream option for a locavore? Oh, how times change.
