There's little doubt that the primarily white alt-weekly press gives more ink to indie-rock than it does to hip hop. Which is a huge disservice, not only to a highly relevant musical paradigm, but also to people who want to have a good time. Indie rock does some good stuff. But it rarely gets a party started. Hip hop can do both.
And since we're bearing down on NYE, the premiere party day of the year, tonight, it may behoove you to get squarely in party mode. And that means ink from us and patrongage from you for hip hop.
So tonight, why not swing by Reef and catch The Chicharones? The Portland rap duo will make your booty shake so hard it may register on the richter scale. And that's what NYE is all about.
The show starts at 10 p..m and costs $7.
