A moment of silence please for the passing of the father of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Alex Anderson, the unheralded creator of Rocket J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose died Oct. 22 at the age of 90. Through the 1960s and '70s, Baby Boomers delighted at the adventures of the world's most famous moose and his buddy, the flying squirrel. Long before the Simpsons, Rocky and Bullwinkle ruled prime time on NBC and ABC, battling no-goodniks Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale.

Anderson also created Dudley Do-Right, Snidely Whiplash and Crusader Rabbit, the first animated character created for television.

You may resume chuckling now.
