The art of busking has provided a living for entertainers in every culture all over the world. But the more recorded music became popular, the less buskers found profitability by playing on the street.
Although busking may never again be a way to make a living, it is however, still a fun hobby for local musicians. Go Listen Boise has partnered with The Record Exchange, to improve the quality of life of Eighth Street pedestrians. One every First Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. and going until early evening, there will be musicians busking outside The Record Exchange. Each musician will play for about an hour before another busker will come to take their place.
Musicians are encouraged to leave a hat or an open guitar case for the donations inspired by their music. They also get a free cup of coffee or fountain drink from The Record Exchange, along with a few coupons. So if you play the ukulele, bassoon or guitar, go sign up at the Edge (inside The Record Exchange). You can sign up early or on the day of.
