Instead of being sandwiched between retailers who've come and gone over the years, the bike shop now has its very own adjacent parking lot and more interior space than ever before. Granted, I'll miss the proximity to happy hours at Piper Pub (3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday), but with Fanci Freeze right across the street from the new location, perhaps I'll become addicted to a different sort of fix.
When I visited the new shop last week, owner Tom Patek informed me that their grand opening is Saturday, July 24. Expect a two-wheel party with free giveaways, raffle items and demos from Trek all day long. Most intriguing about the building, which formerly housed an automotive supply store, are the bright colors, high ceilings and excellent lighting—it's hard to go in and not want to buy a bike.
