I went to Sin last week to chat with Her Most Imperial Sovereign Majesty, Empress Selena Blaque for an article I'm working on about the Imperial Sovereign Gem Court of Idaho. Of course, I had to wait for her to get off stage.
It's a bit complicated, but in a nutshell, the ISGCI is a 501c-3 organization that is comprised of and supports the LGBT community. The group—which includes a large number of drag queens—has rather quietly and very generously raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the LGBT community, especially LGBT youth groups, in the more than 30 years it's been around.
Here's video of Selena chatting with me for a moment as well as shots of her and fellow fab performers Godiva and Minerva Jayne as part of their regular Wednesday night Sin show, Saints and Sinners.
If you've never seen a drag show, Saints and Sinners would be a great place to start. Not only is it entertaining but, if you're lucky, you'll catch Selena doing a backflip off the stage. Apparently, in all the years she's been doing this, she's never broken a heel. Now that's talent.
