They Might Be Giants: The pint-sized version?

Idaho Concerts announced yesterday that tickets to They Might Be Giants kids show at the Egyptian go on sale Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m.

That's all well and good for those of us who built a little birdhouse in our souls for the infamously quirky Brooklyn-based band back in the day, but since the days when the intensely complex lyrics (wink, wink) of "Minimum Wage" bounded from my dorm room stereo and now, I've lost track of TMBG's career. Turns out they're wildly successful in the children's music genre. And November show at the Egyptian is a kids show.

I'm perplexed about that development. But only half way. Given the geographical history lesson I took from "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" (so if you've got a date in Constantinople she'll be waiting in Istabul), I'd guess TMBG are actually pretty well suited to entertain/educate a new generation.

I wonder if their kids show set list includes particle man doing the the things a particle can. Is he a dot? Is he a speck? ... Does triangle man still win, or is that soooo 1990?

The show is Sunday, Nov. 8. Doors open at 3 p.m., show starts at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $23 at the door and $70 for a family four-pack. Show is at the Egyptian Theatre. Get tickets at
