The cutting-edge government idea of putting a heated tent o' port-a-potties outside the temporary Capitol got off to a slow start.
According to a Legislative source in a position to know, only about 30 people used the eight plastic potties during the first week of the session. That's according to the vendor, which measures such things based on the decomposition of a certain chemical in the toilets and some measure of solid waste, our source said.
Of course one of the 30 users was a BW
correspondent doing "journalistic research". From the reporter's notebook: "Not much room for a wide stance. And the heater ... well ... it's still like winter camping."
Total cost of the temporary bathroom at the temporary Statehouse for a potential three-month session: about $4,280. That's a deal.
Please direct questions to Rep. Mike Moyle and Sen. Patti Anne Lodge. It was their idea.
