Spamalot Is All That

Admittedly, going to see a Broadway play on Halloween night is a geeky dodge of a night loaded with social opportunities.

So be it. Spamalot rocks enough to warrant it.

We've been comparing notes here at BW HQ, now that a few of us have gone to see it.

Perhaps the best thing that might be said about the touring production is that after a while, you stop looking for the Monty Python stars and instead revel in the actual actors onstage. The actors and actresses do a fantastic job of occupying the roles of King Arthur and his hapless knights, and owning them.

Give it up for the Lady in the Lake. The watery tart kicks butt in songs completely new to the concept.

Black Knight swordfight: Right on the money. We won't spoil it, but they get the important parts right (off).

You've got two more nights, tonight and tomorrow. It's worth it.

Here's the beta:

Oct. 30-Nov. 2, 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 3, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; $47-$70. The Morrison Center, 2201 Cesar Chavez Ln., 208-426-1609. For tickets, call 208-426-1110.
