A male transient faces a felony and has been locked up at the Ada County Jail, charged with hitting a Boise Police officer.
Police responded to a call of a fight in progress on the morning of May 31 at the intersection of South Phillippi Street and West Overland Road. That's were a witness said the suspect seemed to instigate the fight. As the officer attempted to speak with the suspect, police said the suspect, without warning, ran toward the officer and hit her several times in the face and head with his fist. Eventually, the officer said she had to use a Taser on the suspect when he continually refused commands to stop coming toward her.
37-year-old Robert Watford was charged with a felony charge of battery on an officer and resisting and obstructing.
Boise Police also report the arrest of a Meridian man charged with two sexual attacks—one of a teenage girl and another of a woman near the Boise Greenbelt behind the Boise State University library.
The teenage girl told police that a man had followed her to her car outside of her place of employment in the area of West Franklin Road near North Milwaukee Street. The girl said the suspect held her up against the car and touched her inappropriately. She was eventually able to push the suspect away, get into her car and drive away. That incident occurred in January 2014.
In July of 2013, a woman said she had been walking behind the Boise State library when she was approached by a man asking for directions. The woman said the suspect began touching her inappropriately, cornered her in a stairwell and pushed her head up against the wall, continuing to touch her inappropriately. The woman struggled to get free and went directly to a Boise Police substation to report the crime.
Officers with the Boise Police Special Victims Unit tied the two incidents together and arrested the suspect on a warrant.
33-year-old Don Williams of Meridian is charged with a felony count of sexual battery of a minor child and a misdemeanor charge of battery.
