Press-Tribune: No Mayor For Homedale Until November Election

Homedale will be without a mayor until November.

75-year-old Paul Fink, who first took office as mayor of Homedale in 1984 and served as mayor for 21 of the last 29 years, died June 22 after battling cancer.

This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports that the Homedale City Council has opted not to appoint an interim mayor and chose instead to wait until a new mayor is elected this fall. The positions of mayor, city clerk and treasurer will all be on Homedale's ballot this November. The Council has decided to wait until the election to appoint the winner of the November election as interim mayor until the winner is official sworn into office in January 2014.

Homedale City Council President Dave Downum is running the City Council meetings until then, but he does not hold the title of interim mayor, according to the Press-Tribune.
