UPDATE 11 a.m.
Public Works crews from the City of Boise should wrap up repairs of a downtown sinkhole by mid-afternoon, in anticipation of Friday's late-afternoon commute.
A sinkhole, discovered overnight at the intersection of 1st and Bannock streets near St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, was located near the city's geothermal line.
It wasn't that big—passersby said it was about the size of a softball—but mention the word "sinkhole" and you'll get plenty of motorists' attention.
Law enforcement was alerted late Thursday of a pothole near the intersection of First and Bannock streets near St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in downtown Bose. When public works crews arrived on the scene before dawn this morning, they blocked off one lane of First Street and began determining how much of a problem they had below ground.
No accidents were reported within the area, but morning commuters were cautioned to take some more time in and around the intersection.
