The Blaine County Sheriff's Department is investigating the discovery of an improvised explosive device found in a mailbox at a home on Hyndeman Drive between Hailey and Ketchum.
Blaine County reached out to the City of Twin Falls Bomb Squad April 24 after the device was discovered in a mailbox. The sheriff's office has also turned to federal authorities to help in the investigation.
"Without jeopardizing the investigation, we want the public to know that this was not a pressure style cooking device," wrote Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey said in a release. "This case is under investigation and will be a priority until the person or persons responsible are identified and apprehended."
Law enforcement neutralized the bomb after determining that the device contained projectiles "capable of increasing the destructive force of an explosion."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Blaine County Sheriff's Office at 208-788-5555.
