UPDATE 4 p.m.

Late Monday afternoon, the Ada County Sheriff's Office reported that a 36-year-old Boise man was treated for a single gunshot wound to the leg at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. The injury was not believed to be life-threatening.

Law enforcement said it appears the victim had been driving in a vehicle with three other adult males. The car drove to the 4000 block of South Linder in Meridian, where the victim got out of the car. That's when the victim said one of the people still in the vehicle fired a handgun, four or five times, hitting the victim once in the leg.

The victim made his way to a nearby house, owned by Meridian Republican Sen. Russ Fulcher, who was at the Idaho Statehouse at the time. Fulcher said one of his adult children called him to say that a shooting victim had appeared on their doorstep, looking for help.

The suspects' vehicle is described as a late 1990s or early 2000s model black, four-door Mercedes Benz. The car has a tan interior and dark tinted windows.

Detectives said they believed the incident may be drug-related.

ORIGINAL POST

In between floor votes and committee meetings, Meridian Republican Sen. Russ Fulcher got a disturbing phone call at the Idaho Statehouse Monday morning. Fulcher said one of his adult children called to say that a man—who was an apparent gunshot victim—was knocking on the Fulcher family's door on South Linder Road in Meridian.

Ada County Sheriff's deputies spent most of Monday trying to piece together details after the man shot in the leg was reported near the 4000 block of South Linder Road. But lawmen added that the man was apparently shot at another location and then driven to South Linder, where he was abandoned. A sheriff's department spokeswoman said the victim and suspect were apparently known to one another.

The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment while police investigate several leads, including one report that the shooting may have been drug-related.
