The College of Idaho, poised to enter a new era of football after a 35-year time-out, announced this morning that Mike Moroski, a former NFL quarterback and former coach at the University of California-Davis, would become C of I's new football coach.
The Caldwell college will renew its football program in the fall of 2014 as a member of the NAIA's Frontier Conference.
Moroski played quarterback for University of California-Davis in the mid 1970s before playing for eight years in the National Football League for the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Oilers and San Francisco 49ers.
Moroski's appointment was followed by a blessing from the Gem State's highest profile football coach.
“The College of Idaho has made an excellent choice in naming Mike to lead their new program, giving countless Idaho student-athletes an opportunity to play college football for a character-driven teacher of the game," said Boise State head football coach Chris Petersen, who coached alongside Moroski at UC-Davis. "I've known Mike Moroski for three decades and we began our coaching careers together."
