One day after Boise saw a low temperature of 8 degrees, its coldest reading in more than two years, the thermometer plunged even further this morning: 3 degrees at the Boise Airport. But today's big chill was still above the record low for this date of -6, set on Jan. 4, 1910.
Calm winds and a high temperature of 21 degrees are expected today in the Treasure Valley, but brace yourself for another frigid night, with a low near 6 and wind chills as low as -4.
Some clouds are expected to come into the region Saturday, Sunday and Monday, lifting the overnight lows to near 20 degrees and daytime highs near freezing.
The next best chance for precipitation will come on Tuesday, Jan. 8, when snow is expected to sweep into the region, with most of the accumulation above 3,700 feet.
