Mountain Express: Sun Valley Merger Creates One of Idaho's Largest Arts Organizations

The Sun Valley Center for the Arts—the oldest arts organization in the Wood River Valley—says it has a big announcement to share at what it calls "a celebration" tonight at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey.

The Liberty Theatre is the home of the the Company of Fools theatre group, which moved to Hailey in 1996.

This morning's Idaho Mountain Express reports that the two organizations will announce they have merged into a single nonprofit arts group. The merger comes after a year of review from both organizations' boards and an outside consultant.

The Mountain Express reports that the agreement will allow Company of Fools to retain its name while becoming the theater arm of the Sun Valley Center. The company will also continue to perform at the Liberty Theatre.

Additionally, Company of Fools is dissolving its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status so that the organization could come under the administrative umbrella of the center, according to the Mountain Express.

Officials said the new, unified organization will become one of the three largest arts organizations in the state.
